ASUP Direct Members to Proceed on Two Weeks Warning Strike in Oyo State

The Academic staff Union of polytechnics (ASUP), Oyo state chapter in conjunction with joint Action Committee of Trade Unions in Oyo state has directed all her members to proceed on another two weeks warning strike with effect from Monday 27th June 2022 over some unresolved issues that are yet to be addressed by the state government.
The Members of JAC met last weekend at the Emmanuel Alayande’s Nigerian Union of Teachers House, Samonda, Ibadan to review their progress in respect of the Four (4) weeks’ warning strike which ended on sunday 26th June, 2022.
The Union resolved and directed all her members to further go on another two weeks’ warning strike beginning from Monday, 27th June, 2022.
According to the union, the purpose of the extension of the strike by another two weeks is to give the Government a notice of last warning strike before embarking on an indefinite strike.
The Union said that, they would visit the Oyo State House of Assembly to create Media awareness to Sensitise the general public as regards their demands.
According to a statement issued by ASUP general secretary, Oyo state chapter, He said, “Members, are to note that, this two weeks extension is aimed at leading to an indefinite strike, perhaps, the Government of Oyo State fails to be responsive to the request of JAC.

The statement added “All members are encouraged to stay glue to the course of JAC, which is basically focused on ensuring better welfare of members.”
