Again! Kogi Poly Warn Lecturers Say Students Mustn’t be Forced to Buy Textbooks

The management of the Kogi state polytechnic Lokoja has warned lecturers forcing students to buy textbooks to desist from the act as such habit is prohibited in the polytechnic.
This was contained in a memo directed to all heads of departments and Deans from the office of the polytechnic book committee.
The committee ruled that all textbooks are to be sold at the polytechnic bookshop therefore forcing students to buy textbooks through class representatives will not be tolerated.
“Henceforth, all Books not approved by the Book Committee should not be sold to students. Book(s) written by single Authors below the rank of Senior Lecturer and its equivalent should be phased out by the end of the 2019/2020 session…

“All Books approved are to be sold at the Polytechnic Bookshop as earlier agreed. All Books authored by the Polytechnic Academic staff for students must strictly be in conformity with the Curriculum of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).”
“Academic staff who are not of the position of Senior Lecturer and above or its equivalent, cannot publish book(s) on their own except they do so in collaboration with their senior and more experienced colleagues.Sales of books in offices through Class Representatives or any pseudo agents is highly prohibited.
The committee added “Forcing students either directly or subtly to buy textbooks is not acceptable.”
