The College was established in 1977 with the mandate of training Middle Level Manpower in the fields of Agriculture and Agricultural related disciplines. The College is offering various programs leading to award of National and Higher National Diplomas in the fields of Agriculture and Agricultural related disciplines.
It also offers certificate, Ordinary Diplomas, Higher Diplomas and Postgraduate courses in relevant Agricultural fields on a part-time basis under consultancy units.
Mohamet Lawan College of Agriculture Maiduguri is a pioneer College of Agriculture in the entire Northeastern Nigeria. It has produced a large number of agricultural officers who contributed immensely to the development of the agricultural sector of Borno State and the nation at large. The College was formally known as Borno College of Agriculture and in 2004 it was named after Dr. Mohamet Lawan who was a renowned agriculturalist of national and international repute.
He was the first indigenous Agricultural Officer in the whole of Northern Nigeria and the second in the entire Federation.
