My Experience In Polytechnic as SUG Secretary General/SRA Speaker

By: Comrade Muhammad Isah Muhammad A.k.A Bornblack
It can’t be denied that polytechnic is looked down upon by most people, especially the rich people and their families. Skipping the fact that the knowledge we had here in the polytechnic prepared us to face the world.
I hold the ideology that: qualifications doesn’t determine if one is intelligent, it only tells where someone is. Most students of nowadays universities are there just because their friends are there not for the knowledge, but polytechnic Students are mostly from low earning families who are in the polytechnic because they have no means to afford the university and this gives them the zeal to learn hard.
I obtained my ND in Agricultural and Bio-environmental Engineering and my HND in the Same department but I specialized in farm power and machinery Engineering.
During my school life Students in Engineering University of Maiduguri used to come to me while I was in Ramat polytechnic for complex assignments and calculations. I even wrote journals which are yet to be published.
Is worth the pain because university Students know nothing compared to polytechnic Students but the nation is biased.
People all around knows what I can do, when you say “Bornblack” everybody knows me because of my ability. I never let that segregation affect my life, choice, career. Indeed I am even Happy when someone calls me a POLYTECHNIC graduate because I know that I am prepared to face the world.
I Am skillful in terms of Diesel engine repair and service which I learned in the polytechnic which is one of my sources of income. I am also an IT specialist which I was trained in. I don’t center myself on the qualification but the skills.
The suitability lies on our capacity and capability not the empty colored paper.
Let’s always have a good sense of reason and keep the bias aside if we want our tomorrow to be great.
Thank you
