EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC ADO-EKITI

BRIEF HISTORY.

The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti is one of the second-generation Polytechnics established by law, through Decree No. 33 of July, 1979. It was first founded in 1977 as a College of Technology in Jos, Plateau State and later that year moved to Akure, Ondo State by the then Federal Military Government. In line with the harmonization of all Federal Government owned Polytechnics, it was translated from a College of Technology into a full-fledged Polytechnic by decree No. 33 of July, 1979. By 1982 and in order to pave way for the founding of the Federal University of Technology on its Campus in Akure, the Polytechnic was again relocated, for the final time, to Ado-Ekiti. The relocation process was however completed only in 1986.

The Institution has grown from Seven Academic Departments with a pioneer student enrollment of 350 (Full-Time National Diploma) and 95 Academic Staff in 1978. It now has over 10,000 (Full-Time Morning and Evening, National Diploma, Higher National Diploma) Students with a total Staff strength of about 2,000, made up of Teaching, Non-Teaching, Technical/Technologist and Junior Cadre Staff with 29 Academic Departments presently in the five Schools Structure.

THE FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC ADO-EKITI AND THE POLYTECHNIC COMMUNITY.

The Polytechnic community is peaceful and academic activities and nonacademic are going on smoothly as at the time of publishing this report. Crime rate in the community is minimal. Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti main campus is located along Ado – Ikare road in Ado-Ekiti, the Polytechnic also have a satellite campus along Ilawe road in the capital city of Ekiti state.

The Price of commodities at the Polytechnic community is quietly expensive as students have always laments high costs of Goods especially at Aba Erunfun, the community hosting the Polytechnic and also there is poor and epileptic power supply in the  polytechnic community as for the past one year now, there has not been power supply in the Aba Erunfun community which might not be good enough for the fulltime students that dominate the community  because 60% of people living in the community are students while the other 40% are indigenes and businessmen and women. There is supply in the campus and the school hostel but not available in Aba Erunfun the community hosting the polytechnic.

HOW TO GAIN ADMISSION TO THE FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC ADO-EKITI.

Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti as at 2022 was rated 5th best Polytechnic in Nigeria and trust me gaining admission to this institution is not as difficult as it seems, Adopoly is one of the easiest Polytechnic to gain admission to as long as you meet-up with all the admission and screening requirements.

To gain admission to the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti, FOR UTME candidates that wants to gain admission into National Diploma programme either full-time or part-time, you must have at Least five(5) credits in relevant subjects including English and mathematics and at least minimum of 150 in your UTME.

It should be noted that Scoring 140 in your UTME and having 5 Credits in your O’level results doesn’t guarantee that you will be offered Admission, your admission is void until an internal screening is conducted and to be on safe side, we advise you to ensure that you submit correct details during your registration. That is, provide correct o’level registration number, date of birth, state of origin and the names you supply during your registration must tally with that on your jamb and Olevel results.

For example, if “JOY BLESSING” is the Name on your O’level result, it must also be “JOY BLESSING” on your JAMB result and same thing goes to your registration slip so you must not alter anything, if JOY BLESSING is what you have on your results and you supplied “BLESSING JOY” or “JOY BLESSING HAPPINESS” during your registration, you will automatically be disqualified during physical screening.

HND ADMISSION.

Gaining Admission to Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes is very easy as long as you have at least lower credit in your ND result, you stand a chance of being admitted into either Full-time (Morning) or Part Time(Evening) programme. Whether you’re FPA product or not, that doesn’t matter, if you didn’t do your ND at the Polytechnic just forward your transcripts to the institution immediately after you purchase the admission form as that will enable the school to shortlist your name as quick as possible. One logic of gaining admission to FPA HND programme is to apply as early as possible, that is once you see or heard the form is out apply immediately without procrastinating.

Another reason why FPA admission is the easiest is that the Polytechnic doesn’t conduct entrance examination like other schools so once you apply for form just be hopeful that you would be offered admission as long as you meet up with the school requirements.

The Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti does not conduct entrance examination For HND or POST UTME exams for UTME candidates, what the Polytechnic has been using since 2017 is screening of credentials, that is, you will only be graded or offered admission based on your qualifications. Once you meet up with the general cut off mark (150) and have credible grades on your Olevel results, you stand a chance to be offered admission to the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti National Diploma full-time (Morning) Programme. Adpoly uses a combination of o’level results and UTME results to screen candidates so if you have A’s and B’s on your o,level result, you have higher chances of being admitted to the Polytechnic and as for the HND candidates, distinction, upper credit and lower credit is an added advantage. The Polytechnic also consider candidates with CGPA Less than 2.50 for admission but must have two years working experience as explained earlier.
