NAPS Hails Ogun Governor’s N2 Billion Boost to MAPOLY, Calls for Nationwide Focus on Technical Education

On behalf of the entire polytechnic student community across Nigeria and in my capacity as the President of the Senate of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), I extend our heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, the Executive Governor of Ogun State, for his recent landmark interventions at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY).

Your Excellency, your approval of a N2 billion infrastructure fund for the development of MAPOLY, the donation of a 28-seater bus, and the generous N2.5 million reward to each of the nine best graduating students from 2015 to 2024 is not just an investment in brick and mortar it is an investment in the future of Nigeria. You have demonstrated that when leaders lead with vision, compassion, and purpose, the future becomes brighter for our young people.

This gesture, coming at a time when technical education needs renewed attention and support, speaks volumes about your deep commitment to youth development, academic excellence, and the revitalization of Nigeria’s polytechnic sector. Your actions are not only inspiring but also serve as a blueprint for what is possible when political will meets patriotic intent.

We use this medium to urge Your Excellency to continue championing the cause of polytechnic education and to consider expanding such transformational gestures to other institutions within Ogun State. The polytechnic system remains a vital force in Nigeria’s quest for industrialization, innovation, and self-reliance.

We also call on other State Governors across the federation to take a cue from Governor Abiodun’s leadership. Now more than ever, Nigeria needs bold investments in technical and vocational education. Our students need modern classrooms, skilled instructors, competitive learning environments, and institutional support that will truly empower them to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s development.

To all our students across Nigeria, let this be a call to action. Let us embrace the skills, knowledge, and discipline our institutions offer us. Let us rise to the occasion, knowing fully well that we are the future innovators, builders, and changemakers of our beloved country.

Once again, we thank Governor Dapo Abiodun for rekindling hope and reminding us that polytechnic students are not second-class citizens in Nigeria’s education system.

May your days in office continue to be marked by progress, prosperity, and purpose.

Signed,
Comr. Oyewumi Festus Ayomide
President of the Senate
National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS)
