Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara Holds 24th Matriculation Ceremony

Management of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic Talata Mafara in Zamfara State, has on Thursday admitted and matriculated 2,223 students at its 24th matriculation ceremony held on September 22, for the academic year 2021/2022.
The figure was made known by the Rector of the Polytechnic, Associate Professor Sha’ayau Shehu Mafara (Magajin Rafin Talata-Mafara) at the grand ceremony which was held at the Polytechnic’s Multipurpose Hall.
During the ceremony, the matriculants who included students admitted into National Diploma (ND), and Higher National Diploma (HND) academic programmes took the oath of allegiance presided over by Barrister Muhammed Aminu.
Professor Sha’ayau Shehu Mafara, (Magajin Rafin Mafara, Dan Iyan Gummi) urged newly admitted students to “abstain from extremism, cybercrime, cultism, social unrest, drug abuse, cheating on exams, unnecessary travelling and other offenses, as well as to be security-conscious within and outside the school environment”.
Sha’ayau spotlighted some of his successes while in office, he said that the institution had started Higher National Diploma programmes in Architecture, Banking and Finance, Mass Communication, Computer Engineering, and Electrical Electronics.

According to the rector, the National Diploma in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) will soon begin following the approval by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
In his address, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dr. Bello Muhammad Bello Matawalle, (Barden Kasar Hausa, and Shattiman Daular Usmaniya), represented by his Deputy, Senator Hasan Muhammad Nasiha, said he was moved by the state of the impassable and dilapidated road leading to the location of the matriculation venue.
In his words, the Deputy Governor said “I felt the pain of the school’s lack of a good road and drainage. Despite the limited resources, the state government will make every effort to ensure that the road is built as quickly as possible.”
Matawalle emphasized that “all other needs may come after this urgent and crucial project on road reconstruction in the Polytechnic for the growth of the institution.”

Further speaking, the State Governor commended the fruitful leadership of the Associate Professor Sha’ayau Shehu for his marvelous plans and policies leading to the numerous successes being recorded for the advancement of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic.
In their separate speeches at the event Commissioner for Higher Education and the Emir of Talata Mafara both gave advice to students, urging them to be good ambassadors of the school and their respective families, and refrain from all forms of violence. The students were also advised to focus on their studies so that their parents will see a return on the investment.
Similarly, the Registrar advised students to “avoid exam malpractice, cultism, and other bad behavior” because they were now considered legitimate, bona fide students of the school and would be subject to the full force of the law in case of any violation.
The rector, in an effort to stem the deadly disease of drug abuse among youth in society, officially inaugurated the student organization War Against Drugs Abuse Club (WADA-C) as the ceremony came to a close.
Senator Hassan Nasiha Gusau, the deputy governor who also serves as acting governor, represented the governor at the event.
