Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) is on the path to being upgraded to a full-fledged university, marking a major milestone in Nigeria’s higher education landscape. The institution’s management has confirmed that all necessary requirements for the transition have been completed, positioning YABATECH to play a leading role in technology-driven education and research.

The Rector, Dr. Ibraheem Abdul, disclosed that the college has successfully defended its proposal before the National Assembly and is awaiting final government approval. “We have fulfilled all obligations required for the upgrade. Our staff includes over 200 doctorate holders, and our facilities are fully equipped to meet university standards. We are optimistic that this transition will happen soon,” he said.
