Why we suspended SUG election- EDE POLY management.
The management of the federal polytechnic Ede, osun state, have suspended the forthcoming SUG election till further notice.
The school management say this became necessary due to the state of insecurity in the polytechnic community.
The school Management further warn students to desist away from any criminal activities and exam malpractices Ahead of the second semester examination which was scheduled to commence April 4th 2022.
However, the student union government under the leadership of ADEBAM kicked against management decision suspending SU election.
In a press statement obtained by POLYTV, the president urge students to be calm, he said,
“We solemnly kicks against the memo earlier released by the Directorate of students affairs in person of Dr, Omotosho stating that the forthcoming SU election had been suspended indefinitely.
Having this kind of memo is a big slap on us without reaching any consensus and has already been stated in the content, those alleged should be questioned and not using this ultimatum to solidify rooms for suspension, if we are suspending Election because of what happened, then, The SU EXECUTIVES don’t see any reason for us writing this forthcoming examination because we all knows that our environment is no longer safe/conducive for us due to the fears and insecurity from different angles.
Hence, We urge the Entire students to keep calm and let’s continue to be an icon of peace and keep them checked to avoid being checkmated till our demands are met.”
