WAEC Temporarily Withdraws 2025 WASSCE Results After Shocking Technical Glitch Discovery

In an unexpected turn of events, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has temporarily withdrawn access to the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results for school candidates due to the discovery of technical glitches during an internal review.

The council announced the decision through an official press release from its Public Affairs Department, revealing that errors were detected during the post-release assessment of results following a new exam security measure known as “paper serialization.” This innovation, already in use by a national examination body, was introduced to help curb exam malpractice and was applied to subjects such as Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics.

Despite intentions to strengthen exam integrity, the result release procedure uncovered technical bugs that affected the accuracy of candidates’ results.

WAEC emphasized its commitment to fairness and professionalism, explaining that the temporary suspension was necessary to correct the identified issues. As a result, access to the 2025 WASSCE results has been disabled on the result checker portal for the next 24 hours.

“We extend our deep and sincere apologies to all affected candidates and the general public,” said Moyosola Adesina, Acting Head of Public Affairs at WAEC. “We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work diligently to fix this matter with transparency and urgency.”

Students who have already viewed their results are advised to recheck them after 24 hours, as updated and corrected versions will be available.

WAEC reiterated its dedication to excellence, transparency, and fairness in its examination and result assessment procedures.

The council urged the public to remain calm and assured stakeholders of its continued commitment to delivering quality service to Nigerian students.
