UROMI POLYTECHNIC Conducts Orientation Exercise for New Intake
ORIENTATION EXERCISE FOR THE NATIONAL DIPLOMA STUDENTS OF THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT, UROMI, FOR THE 2021/2022 ACADEMIC SESSION.
NICTM, Uromi, conducts its 7th orientation exercise for the National Diploma Students for the 2021/2022 academic session.
The orientation exercise was a very robust occasion as the students were taught the basic rudiments of studentship, the polytechnic regulations, time management, dress code and other antisocial behaviour within and outside the polytechnic community the Registrar, Mrs. Dayo Akinbowale.
The Rector, Engr. Prof. S. O. Onohaebi, FNSE, FNIPE, MyrP, who was ably represented by the Ag. Deputy Rector Engr. France Akpojedje welcomed the freshers to campus on behalf of the Governing Council, Management, staff and student community of the polytechnic.
The Rector was pleased to welcome the students into the academic life of the polytechnic and urged them to be law abiding and shun every form of action that may be directly or indirectly inimical to the common good and interest of the members of the academic community.
The orientation exercise did not fail to address the incessant security problems in the country as the DPO of Uromi Division was in attendance and spoke on some basic security tips and the need to be security conscious by having adequate knowledge about the immediate environment.
The Librarian, who is undoubtedly the Chief Custodian of the polytechnic academic nerve centre that houses the books, e-resources and other academic materials instrumental to the mental empowerment, growth and total refinement of members of the Institute spoke extensively on the use and importance of the library as the life wire of the academics and students, the attitude to cultivate to engender success and so on.
Talks on finance management and payment of fees by students were discussed by financial expert from the Bursary department in the person of Mr. Pius Anenih, CNA.
The exercise climaxed when the polytechnic doctor, Dr. Enomen Akata talked on hygiene with emphasis on personal hygiene.
The programme ended with the students being conveyed in the polytechnic vehicles around the immediate community for a tour of knowing their environment.
