University of Ghana announces scholarships for 2025 master’s programs in public health

The University of Ghana’s School of Public Health is offering scholarships for its Master’s in Public Health and MSc in Applied Health Social Science programs for the 2025–2026 academic year. These scholarships aim to build expertise in Implementation Research (IR) to address global health challenges, focusing on infectious diseases of poverty, climate change, and antimicrobial resistance. The programs will commence in September 2025.
Funded by the UNICEF/UNDP/World Bank/WHO Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR), the scholarships support students in gaining practical skills in Implementation Research. TDR, based at the World Health Organization in Geneva, Switzerland, focuses on building research capacity in low- and middle-income countries to improve health interventions and reduce health system barriers.
Scholarship Overview and Focus Areas
Recipients will engage in programs covering various global health challenges, including:
- Epidemics and outbreaks
- Disease control and elimination
- The impact of climate change on health
- Antimicrobial resistance
The curriculum includes on-campus teaching and a dissertation project based in Ghana, providing hands-on experience in critical public health areas.
Scholarship Coverage and Application Process
The scholarship provides:
- Round-trip economy airfare
- Tuition and academic fees
- Medical insurance
- Monthly living stipend
- Research dissertation expenses
Interested candidates must apply for admission to the University of Ghana and separately for the TDR Postgraduate Scholarship. The application process involves three steps, all of which must be completed for consideration.
