University of Birmingham Postgraduate Access Scholarships 2025 – Apply Now

If you’ve ever wanted to pursue a master’s degree but faced financial or social challenges, the University of Birmingham is offering an opportunity to help make that goal a reality. Applications are now open for the 2025/2026 Postgraduate Access Scholarships, with 50 awards available—each valued at £4,000.
These scholarships aim to support UK-domiciled students from underrepresented backgrounds by easing the financial burden of postgraduate education and offering a strong academic support network throughout their studies.
Scholarship Benefits
Recipients of the Postgraduate Access Scholarship will receive more than just a financial boost. The award includes a range of academic, career, and personal development benefits:
- £4,000 toward tuition fees
- Exclusive induction event ahead of the academic year
- Membership in the Birmingham Scholars community
- Dedicated support from the Academic Skills Centre
- Guidance from a postgraduate careers adviser
- Mentorship and employability training through the Masters Consultancy Challenge
- Enrollment in the Postgraduate Professional Development Award
- Study abroad opportunities and alumni mentorship
- Personalized career mentoring and access to tailored support services
This package is designed to help students succeed not just academically, but also professionally.
Who Can Apply?
To be considered for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be a UK-domiciled student (Home fee-status)
- Begin a 180-credit taught postgraduate course (full-time or part-time) in the 2025/2026 academic year
- Belong to at least one underrepresented group, such as:
- Former participant in a widening participation scheme
- Care leaver (in care for at least three months under local authority)
- Student with a disability receiving DSA, DLA, or PIP
- Black or other ethnic minority student
- Estranged or bereaved of both parents and under the age of 25
- Student with caring responsibilities
- Student from a low-income household (income of £42,875 or less)
Note: Meeting the criteria does not automatically guarantee a scholarship. Selection is merit-based, and additional documentation may be requested to verify eligibility.
