SUG ELECTION: ABIA POLY RECTOR RECONCILES AGGRIEVED ASPIRANTS

Sequel to the grievances that associated the just concluded SUG election held on Saturday 16th April, 2022, the Rector of Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, Prof. Osonwa Kalu Okorie today, Thursday 12th May, 2022 called for a reconciliation meeting of both the agrieved parties and other successful candidates.
In attendance was the Dean, Student Affairs department — Barr Ikenna Anyanwu, The Director, Quality Assurance and Ethics — Dr Chibueze Prince Orie, The School PRO –Mrs Stella Nwakanma, The SUG President — Comr. Ibeh Prince Progress (SAP), Speaker of the 24th Parliament — Rt. Hon. Barr. Oya Harrison Onyekachi (SAP), Secretary General of the SUG — Comr. Obioma Stanley Chibueze, SUG Director of Information and Publicity — Comr. Okoro, Godswill Chinecherem and all the Aspirants and contestants of the just concluded SUG election.
The Rector welcomed everyone and urged all to embrace peace.
He gave all aggrieved parties opportunities to express their grievances and encouraged the students to always have the interest of the institution over and above their personal ambition. He promised to adequately tackle the challenges raised during the meeting and upheld that the union should move on as parties should learn and improve in their future endeavour.

The Rector warned strongly that students should learn how to resolve issues on the table than engaging in online posts that are targeted to de-marketing the institution in the eyes of the public. Henceforth, the management will not tolerate such posts. While admonishing the new officials noted that the just concluded SUG election had some irregularities which didn’t work in tandem with the electoral guidelines stipulated for the conduct of the election. He cautioned and advise everyone to shield their sword and think of how to promote, market and uplift Abia State Polytechnic to an enviable height.
On that note, the Rector called for a peaceful reconciliation and consensus between Comr. Onyike Samuel and Comr. Nwankpa Stanley and finally upheld Stanley Nwankpa as the new SUG President and declared the SUG election a Win – Win election of No Victor, No vanquish. On that note, a proposed date of Thursday 19th May 2022 has been given for the handover and Inauguration of the new SUG officials.
It is believed that parties should respect and reciprocate the uncommon gesture from the rector for the quality time he spent with us and his fatherly advice to us on this matter.
