The NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND) in Aviation Management is aimed at producing diplomates with sound knowledge and skills to effectively manage the Aviation Industries.
It would enable them acquire technological and professional skills necessary for employment and job creation in various areas of aviation industry, such as airports, airlines, public relations for airlines operations, advertising of airline operations, news dissemination for aviation industries, managing, financing and marketing information services.
PROGRAMME OBJECTIVES:
On completion of this course, the ND/ HND diplomates should be able to:
- Employ the operational knowledge involved in airline business operations;
- Manage aviation projects;
- Encompass the dynamics of alternative transportation systems; Regulate fares and interline systems;
- Determine grounded exposure and the rudiments of aircraft operating cost and management of
- scarce revenue holistic;
- Apply principles of transport economics and human factor in the management of air transportation;
- Apply research conducted in the management of air transportation;
- Administer aviation insurance processes;
- Apply labor relations principles and commercial law in aviation management;
- Apply economic principles in management of air cargo;
- Set up and manage their own business.
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The academic requirements for admission into the HND Aviation Management programme are:
i. Five (5) G.C.E. (0 level), WASC, NECO or NABTEB subjects passed at not more than two sittings. The subjects must be passed at Credit level and should include English Language Mathematics and any two other subjects.
ii. A minimum of ND at not less than Lower Credit in Business Administration and Management, Maritime Transport and Business studies, Marketing, Accountancy, Tourism, Cooperative Economics and Management, and Purchasing and Supply.
iii. One year relevant Industrial Work Experience. However, in exceptional cases a candidate with a Pass at ND level must have acquired at least two years of cognate experience in order to qualify for admission.
