Polytechnic Students’ Welfare Abroad Tops Agenda as NAPS Leadership Engages NIDCOM

In a bold move to champion the rights and welfare of Nigerian polytechnic students both at home and abroad, the leadership of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) paid a high-profile courtesy visit to the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) earlier today.
Leading the delegation was Comrade Aliyu Omotayo Yusuf, Vice President of External Affairs for NAPS, who emphasized the urgent need to protect and promote the interests of Nigerian polytechnic students studying or seeking opportunities overseas. The delegation was warmly received by the Secretary of NIDCOM, standing in for the Chairman, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, OON.
During the strategic engagement, the NAPS leadership tabled critical issues surrounding the welfare, rights, and security of Nigerian students in the diaspora, particularly those in polytechnics. They urged NIDCOM to intensify efforts in safeguarding students against discrimination, exploitation, and other forms of abuse abroad.
“We are committed to ensuring that the voices of over 21.8 million polytechnic students are not only heard but reflected in national and international policy frameworks,” Comrade Yusuf stated. “Education is a right, not a privilege, and we remain steadfast in advocating for a brighter future for Nigerian polytechnic students worldwide.”
In response, NIDCOM assured the NAPS delegation of its continuous dedication to protecting the welfare of Nigerians globally, with a renewed focus on the unique challenges facing polytechnic students.
The meeting marks a significant step towards strengthening collaboration between NAPS and NIDCOM in pursuit of educational equity and diaspora engagement.
