The atmosphere at Kaduna Polytechnic was electrifying on Thursday as students, staff, and invited guests converged for the 2025 Kaduna Polytechnic Cultural Carnival, a vibrant showcase of Nigeria’s rich heritage and youthful creativity.
The event, held at the main campus in Tudun Wada, brought together participants from all schools and departments, each displaying unique cultural performances, traditional dances, fashion parades, and indigenous cuisines. From the rhythmic beats of talking drums to colorful attires representing Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups, the carnival was a feast for the senses.
Officer of the Polytechnic, in his opening address, praised the students for keeping culture alive, noting that the carnival was more than entertainment. He described it as a platform to promote unity, celebrate diversity, and strengthen peaceful coexistence among the school’s multi-ethnic population.
“This carnival reminds us that culture is a bridge, not a barrier. It is a reflection of who we are as Nigerians, and it’s exciting to see young people embrace and celebrate it with pride,” the officer said.
Highlights of the day included a parade, inter-departmental dance competitions, traditional drama displays, and an art exhibition showcasing creative works by students. Various local delicacies were also served, giving attendees a taste of Nigeria’s culinary diversity.
Students expressed excitement over the opportunity to celebrate their roots on campus. “This is more than fun; it is a chance to learn from other cultures and appreciate our differences,” said Grace Yusuf, a participant from the School of Environmental Studies.
The 2025 Kaduna Polytechnic Cultural Carnival is expected to become an annual flagship event, further strengthening the institution’s commitment to promoting cultural awareness and national unity.
