Payment Service Bank Empowers Students with Financial Literacy Training

A leading Nigerian payment service bank has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment and financial inclusion by hosting a financial literacy workshop for students at the Liberty Career Academy Summer Camp. The program introduced young participants to practical money skills designed to prepare them for long-term financial success.

According to the bank, the initiative forms part of a broader strategy to deepen financial education nationwide, especially among young people and underserved communities.

Building Strong Financial Foundations

The training session covered essential money management skills, including saving regularly, setting financial goals, responsible spending, and understanding investment basics. Participants also learned about the risks of poor financial decisions, scams, and unsustainable spending habits that can lead to long-term setbacks.

A representative of the bank explained that financial literacy is a life skill that can transform young people’s futures:

“By teaching students the importance of managing money, setting goals, and making wise financial decisions, we are equipping them with the tools they need to achieve financial independence and avoid debt traps.”

Promoting Early Savings and Investment Culture

Licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria in 2020, the bank was established to drive financial inclusion for the unbanked and underbanked. Through initiatives like this, it is helping young Nigerians develop a culture of saving and investing early in life. This, the bank stressed, is critical not only for personal financial growth but also for Nigeria’s broader economic development agenda.

Public Relations Specialist, Alvin Afadama, who facilitated the session, emphasised that simple practices—such as tracking income and expenses, differentiating needs from wants, and setting achievable goals—can make a big difference in the financial future of young people.

“Empowering the next generation with financial knowledge is essential for building a more inclusive and resilient economy,” he noted.

Digital Banking and Nationwide Outreach

The literacy drive is one of many steps the bank has taken to promote financial inclusion. Beyond summer camps, the institution continues to invest in digital banking platforms and financial technology solutions to make savings, investments, and other services more accessible to rural communities and underserved demographics.

Broader Impact on Nigeria’s Economy

Industry experts have repeatedly highlighted that widespread financial literacy is vital for Nigeria’s economic transformation. By equipping students with knowledge on saving, investing, and wealth-building strategies, such programs extend benefits beyond personal financial security. They also contribute to reducing poverty levels and expanding financial inclusion nationwide.

The bank’s intervention demonstrates how early financial education can help young people confidently manage money, avoid common pitfalls, and position themselves for a future of independence, entrepreneurship, and sustainable wealth creation.

As Nigeria works toward achieving its trillion-dollar economy goals, collaborations between financial institutions, schools, and regulators will remain critical in building a financially literate and economically empowered generation.
