Oyo College of Agriculture matriculates 2,381 Students
•Warns matriculants against cultism, unregistered society, other vices
Oyo College of AgricultureActing Rector, Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, Mr Isiaka Olaniyi Adekunle, has warned new students of the school to shun all acts of cultism, associating with unregistered societies on campus and other vices, just as the institution formally admitted 2,381 students.
While delivering his speech during the matriculation ceremony held on the school premises, on Wednesday, Adekunle informed that the total number of students admitted for both National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes including full time and part-time students is 2,381 students for the 2020/2021 academic session.
“Out of thousands of applicants that qualified and applied for admission into various National Diploma programmes, 1160 applicants have been offered admissions into full-time programmes and 566 others were admitted by the Directorate of Part-Time and Preliminary Studies for part-time National Diploma programmes.
“Let me re-emphasise that now that you have sworn an oath, it means that you should make a restitution for any damage done to the property of the college or that of any members of the public whether in the course of a protest or under any other circumstances,” Adekunle noted.
While sounding a note of warning to the new intakes, the Rector stated that: “It is also important to note that membership of secret cult or any unregistered club and or any society is prohibited by the college laws.
“With the matriculation oath you have taken now, you must not belong, relate or associate with any secret cult group or unregistered societies throughout your period of studentship in the college.”
Adekunle concluded by reminding the students that the college has zero-tolerance for examination misconduct and other related vices.
He further stated that: “Now that you have become bonafide students of the college, I enjoin you to be serious and be committed to your academic activities to avoid the temptations of involving in examination misconduct.
“As an institution, we equally detest and frown at indecent dresses, sexual harassment, drug abuse, the act of prostitution among others.”
