Ondo Poly Student Arraigned for Alleged Exam Impersonation, Faces Up to 3-Year Imprisonment

A 23-year-old student, Akinmolu Ayeotan, on Friday appeared before an Akure Magistrates’ Court for allegedly impersonating another student during an examination.
Abdulrazaq, a student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, is facing two counts of charge bordering on conspiracy and impersonation.
Police Prosecutor, Suleiman Adebayo told the court that the defendant, alongside another suspect at large, committed the offences on October 30, 2025, around 3:30 p.m. on the polytechnic’s premises.
Adebayo said the defendant falsely posed as one Azeez Aliu, popularly known as “Bruno,” an HND II student of Public Administration of the institution, despite knowing that Aliu was wanted for cultism-related activities.
“The defendant was caught in the examination hall writing the exam on Aliu’s behalf.
“He was apprehended and taken to the station, where he confessed that Aliu paid him N5,000 for the act,” Adebayo told the court.
The prosecutor requested a date to assemble witnesses and prepare the case.
Adebayo noted that the offences contravened Sections 516 and 512 of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006.
Magistrate Damilola Sekoni granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He ruled that the sureties must be gainfully employed and provide evidence of tax payments to the Ondo State Government.
The case was adjourned until December 22, 2025, for mention.
