NECO Honours Top Students, Schools and Staff at National Awards Ceremony

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has celebrated exceptional students, schools, and staff across Nigeria during its 2024 Staff Productivity Award ceremony held at the council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.
Speaking at the event, NECO Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, explained that the initiative aims to inspire excellence, discipline, and dedication among both students and employees of the council.
Outstanding Students Recognized
In the National Common Entrance Examination category, Master Balogun Farian Ajibola and Miss Iyasei Ifeanyichukwu Victory emerged as the best-performing candidates. For the National Gifted Examination, Mr. Udo Jacob Chimmremeze Godslove Samuel of Diamond Special Schools, Owerri, and Miss Okpala Chukwugozirin Kamtochukwu of Primary School, Nnewi, were named top achievers.
The Basic Education Certificate Examination also produced remarkable performers, with Master Charles Bryan Uzoma and Miss Awanbor Omoriyekmwen Claire of Igbinedion Education Centre, Benin City, earning the highest scores nationwide.
Staff and Coordinators Awarded
Among NECO staff, Mr. Thadeus Ajagbu, the Kogi State Coordinator, was recognized as the Best State Coordinator for 2024, while Mr. Ola A. Kareem received the award for Best Driver in appreciation of his dedication and service.
Commitment to Excellence
Professor Wushishi stressed that the ceremony goes beyond rewarding achievements. “This event is about building a culture of discipline, continuous improvement, teamwork, and ethical service. Despite challenges, excellence is possible and should reflect in every aspect of our work and education,” he said.
He also highlighted key accomplishments of his administration over the past three years, including the successful and timely conduct of examinations, transparent staff promotion processes, and the development of ICT-driven solutions to promote fairness and efficiency.
Commendation from Niger State Assembly
The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Alhaji Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji, praised Professor Wushishi’s leadership, describing it as exemplary and responsible for NECO’s growing reputation for credibility and integrity.
The 2024 NECO Staff Productivity Award ceremony reaffirmed the council’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and rewarding hard work across Nigeria’s education system.
