NADDC to partner Afe Babalola University on electric vehicles

The National Automotive Design and Development Council is planning to collaborate with Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, on electric vehicles and compressed natural gas technology.
The NADDC Director General, Oluwemimo Osanipin, on Wednesday during a working visit to ABUAD to discuss the partnership as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to support cleaner energy solutions and reduce carbon emissions within the transport sector, according to a statement.
The NADDC DG commended ABUAD’s technological strides and reiterated the agency’s commitment to boosting local production of automotive components.
“The collaboration with ABUAD will be strategic, especially in promoting electric mobility and converting vehicles to CNG, both of which are critical to reducing carbon emissions and achieving global environmental goals,” Osanipin stated.
ABUAD founder, Afe Babalola, and other top officials of the university, including the Vice Chancellor, Professor Olarinde Smaranda, received Osanipin, who toured the university’s Mechatronics Engineering Department and Industrial Parks with the NADDC team.
Afe Babalola noted the need for technical partnerships between academic institutions, saying, “ABUAD was founded with a vision to transform education and foster innovation in Nigeria. This partnership with NADDC will help accelerate industrial growth and promote sustainable automotive technologies.”
Other members of ABUAD’s management team present during the visit included the university’s bursar, Dupe Babalola; the Director of International Collaboration and Linkages, Prof. Afolalu; and the Director of Corporate Affairs, Tunde Olofintila.
