NUC Technical Expert Team Visits to the Proposed Aminu Dabo Medical University, Kano

.The pair of private health institutions owned by Arc Aminu Dabo (ADCOHST and AD-CONS) on Tuesday hosted the National Universities Commission (NUC) Technical Team on a facility assessment visit of the two colleges for upgrading into a full-pledged private Medical University.

The 6-member team headed by Dr Toufik Salau, the Chief Master Plan Consult, on arrival visited the proposed University permanent site located at Kanyi Village along Kano-Kabo-Gwarzo Road in the company of some principal officers in the college.

The team also visited the main campuses of AD-CONS and AD-COHST, at their respective locations within Kano metropolis where they inspected infrastructural  facilities provided on the ground ahead of recommending the issuance of a license to operate as a private medical university.

Other areas inspected included laboratories, lecture rooms, multi-purpose hall, library complex, college clinics, water supply system and source of electricity power supply as well as students’ hostel and staff offices, among others.

At the exit of exercise, the members of the team expressed their satisfaction with what they virtually saw on the ground and commended the founder for his huge investment at campuses of the two colleges.

Earlier, the team was first received by Mal Lawaldeen Mukaddass, the Registrar of the college on the instruction of the Proprietor, Arc Aminu Dabo, who was unavoidably away due to equally other pressing engagement outside Kano.

The leader of the team, Dr Toufic Salau, said the task of the team was to inspect facilities on ground and assess the level of preparedness and forward recommendation to NUC to approve the take-off of the proposed private medical university in Kano.

Dr Toufik Salau added that the Commission has keen interest in supporting the establishment of the project like this, given its relevance and great importance to society, expressing hope that the proposal will soon become functional in view of the huge investment, quality of structures, equipment and staff provided at the two colleges by the proprietor.

Responding, Arc Aminu Dabo, who spoke through Mal Lawaddeen Mukaddas Registrar, reaffirmed his commitment by working tirelessly to ensure that the proposed University came to reality and joined the leagues of private medical sciences universities in the country.

He expressed appreciation to NUC for sending a high calibre expert technical partners for the job and hope that the Council will grant the approval for licensing to upgrade the colleges into the status of a private medical university in Nigeria within the shortest period.
