MEET THE ACTING RECTOR, FEDERAL POLYTECHNIC, UKANA:
QS UDUAK I. INYANG–UDOH

To non-initiates, his name may not ring a  loud bell, but for those who know him, he represents everything unique and outstanding, be it in the academic world were his image looms large, or the larger society where his wealth of knowledge is at once vast and beneficial to many.

A former Acting Rector,Deputy Rector, Administration in Yaba College of Technology, QS Uduak I. Inyang–Udoh is a man of distinct character and unrivalled level-headedness that stands him out  amongst his contemporaries. Versatile and well skilled in Quantity Surveying, and Construction Management, he is a study in excellence and focus whose academic, professional and administrative experiences span over 35 years.

The academic guru attended Federal Government College, Ilorin, Kwara State, where he made distinction. He is an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University (formerly University of Ife) Ile-Ife and that of University of Lagos. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying and Masters Degree in Construction Management. He is Fellow of Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (FNIQS) and Registered Quantity Surveyor (RQS) with Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN). He has a number of publications to his credit.

QS Inyang–Udoh’s working life started at Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa State, Nigeria, where he was one of the pioneering staff of the Department of Quantity Surveying. He successfully started and headed the Department as Coordinator for about two years when he left to join the services of Yaba College of Technology in September 1986 as Lecturer II and rose to the position of Chief Lecturer in July 2002.
In Yaba College of Technology, he was appointed Ag. Head of Department in 1996 and served for over four (4) years. He was reappointed Head of Department in 2007 and served for over four (4) years.

In December 2011, he was appointed Dean, School of Environmental Studies where he served for 2 years before his appointment as Director, Academic Planning Unit (APU) of Yaba College Technology where he served for 4 years. He was appointed the College Champion for CommonWealth of Learning (COL), Flexible Skills Development Programme in 2015, where he worked assiduously and initiated the establishment of the Flexible Skills Development Centre (FSDC) in the College.

Before now, Inyang-Udoh served as the Director of Yabatech Consult Ltd where he made tremendous impact and changed the face of Yabatech Consult within the last 3 years (in spite of overwhelming challenges). He also served the college in various other capacities as chairman and member of over 20 standing and ad hoc committees. He has attended many conferences, seminars, workshops within and outside Nigeria.

Inyang-Udoh has been very active in his profession where he served in some committees of the professional Institute, a member of the Examination Board for about 12 years where he became the Coordinator. He has served as Consultant in quite a number of construction projects within and outside the country.

In recognition of his performance he was given an award for outstanding Performance at Work in Yaba College of Technology in 2009. In July 2012, he received a special letter of commendation from the Rector for his valuable contributions towards development of the School of Environmental Studies in particular and the College in general. In January,2023 ,he was appointed as acting Rector,Yaba College of Technology.

Inyang-Udoh is married and blessed with children.

He assumes his new office as the acting Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Ukana with a rich vein of experience in administration, armed with excellent man-management skills and top-notch academic qualifications.
