Key Points from JAMB Policy Meeting: Important Updates

Here are the key takeaways from the 2024 JAMB Policy Meeting held on July 18, 2024:
1. Age Requirement: Admission requires candidates to be at least 16 years old this year, increasing to 18 years from 2025.
2. Minimum Scores: JAMB has set 140 as the minimum score for university admissions and 100 for Colleges of Nursing, Colleges of Education, and Polytechnics. Institutions may set their own cutoffs.
3. JAMB Original Result Slip: There will be no JAMB original result slip this year. JAMB will directly provide scores to institutions upon request to prevent result falsification. Ensure your JAMB registered SIM card is active for result checking. If there’ll be alternative way of checking, it would be communicated as soon as it’s available.
4. Admission Commencement: Institutions can begin their admissions processes, but the timing varies by institution depending on their academic calendar.
5. SMS Admission Confirmation: Admission will be confirmed via SMS only. Ensure your JAMB registered SIM card is active. If there’ll be an alternative way of checking, it will be communicated.
6. Post UTME/Screening Fee: The maximum fee for Post UTME/screening forms is capped at N2,000 (excluding service charges) for all institutions.
7. Admission Process: All admissions (UTME, DE, regular, part-time) must go through JAMB alone to avoid fake admissions schemes.
8. Admission Criteria: Ensure correct subject combinations and upload of O-level results on the JAMB portal to avoid disqualification.
9. Other Services: Updates on services like UTME conversion to DE will be provided as they develop.
10. Portal Updates: The JAMB portal is not yet fully updated for this year; that’s why some places on your CAPS are blank
