Kaduna Polytechnic to Benefit from N7.5 Billion TETFund Research Grant

Kaduna Polytechnic has emerged as one of 174 tertiary institutions across Nigeria selected to benefit from a N7.5 billion research intervention approved by the Federal Government through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).
The development is being celebrated as a significant milestone for the institution, reflecting its growing commitment to academic excellence, research, and innovation under the leadership of Rector, Dr. Suleiman Umar.
According to TETFund, the research grants, which range from N13.6 million to N49.97 million per project, were awarded to support 174 research initiatives aimed at addressing national development challenges and advancing knowledge across various sectors.
The funding will support research in key areas including health and social welfare, agriculture, science and engineering, power and energy, clean energy, defence technology, security studies, and other strategic fields considered critical to Nigeria’s growth and development.
Among the institutions that secured the highest number of grants are the Federal University of Technology, Minna with 18 projects, the Federal University of Technology, Owerri with 11 projects, and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria with 10 projects.
TETFund also disclosed that the beneficiaries cut across different categories of tertiary institutions, including federal and state universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. Newly established federal universities were also included in the intervention.
Several polytechnics made the list of beneficiaries, including Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Federal Polytechnic Bida, Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Federal Polytechnic Mubi, Federal Polytechnic Ile-Oluji, Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri, Yaba College of Technology, Kaduna Polytechnic, and Umaru Ali Shinkafi Polytechnic, Sokoto.
The list also features newly established federal universities such as the Federal University of Applied Sciences, Kachia, Kaduna State; the Federal University of Environment and Technology, Koroma/Saakpenwa, Rivers State; and the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin Ekiti.
In addition, several state-owned institutions were selected for the research funding programme, including Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Ekiti State University, Kwara State University, Adamawa State University, Rivers State University, and Sokoto State University.
The intervention is expected to strengthen research capacity, promote innovation, and encourage the development of practical solutions to national challenges across Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.
