I). JAMB
In any higher institution in Nigeria, for you to gain admission you must try as much as possible to beat Polytechnic general cut off mark for JAMB and also have at least Five(5) Credits in relevant subjects including English and mathematics plus any other three(3) subjects that is relevant to your field of study. Once you beat this cut off mark, your chance of gaining admission into Nigerian Polytechnic is guaranteed.
The general cut off mark for admission into Polytechnics is 150/160 although some institutions raise their cut mark above 150 and 160 but you have nothing to fear, there are over 100 Polytechnics in Nigeria and if you didn’t meet up with school A cut off mark you can apply for school B. If you are brilliant and your brain is sharp, you don’t need to fear because your result already proved or assume the type of candidate you are.
Whether you got your grades through miracle centers or runs, nobody cares about that when it comes to admission, you will only be graded based on your academic performance. You can’t compare candidate with pass to distinction, either ND candidate or HND candidate if you have a credible result then your chance of gaining admission into Polytechnics in Nigeria is 90% sure.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL STUDENTS OF MAPOLY
This means your O’level result must be distinctive as well as your jamb results and your PUTME performance too. So, you have to perform well and at least read and study hard to secure your admission.
II). CONNECTION
Another way to secure admission into the polytechnic is through connection. As we all know most of the things in Nigeria now is by connection, even if you are brilliant, you may still need little connection as back up because not all candidates that qualified will be offered admission. So, if you have connection, I will advise you to use it as back up to the number 1 above. In fact, those candidates who do not qualify for admission are being admitted through back door and that’s the power of connection.
Things You Must Never Sacrifice For Relationship
III). MONEY
The Bible confirms that money is the transport for evangelism, not only evangelism alone but also in Nigeria education sector. If you have money, there’s 99% assurance of gaining admission into any higher institutions like Polytechnic in Nigeria. Who doesn’t like money? but for your money to work you must be qualified, and also have connection. Money can help you runs your admission; I have witnessed that before and it happens in every school. You just have to be careful who you deal with because there are lots of scammers out there and for this option to work you must meet up with the school cut off mark and admission quota.
IV). ALTERNATIVE
This is the alternate option of gaining admission in Nigeria Polytechnics. Polytechnic runs basically two programmes which are FULL TIME and PART-TIME, the full time are those students who were admitted by merit, that is through jamb or those who passed the school screening test while Part time programme is an alternate programme for students who didn’t meet up with the required grade or for students who wants to combine study with work.
There are also different types of part time programmes which are Daily Part time (DPT/DPP), Regular Part time (RPT) and Evening programmes and these are all part time programmes. These programmes make Polytechnic Education the easiest and fastest because you can apply for part time admission with or without jamb. All you need to do is jamb regularization which you can get by visiting jamb office.
Therefore, if you fail Jamb instead of sitting at home you can obtain Polytechnic part time form and you will be admitted without much stress. For this to work out, that means the option I, (ii) and (iii) stated above doesn’t work. If you are the type of candidate that your grade is poor, that is, you scored below the required grade, just obtain these forms, DPP/PART-TIME/EVENING all these programmes doesn’t require jamb it’s an automatic admission and it’s the same with those who used jamb. The only differences is school fees and lecture hours.
PROGRAMMES AVAILABLE IN POLYTECHNIC EDUCATION

This is a regular programme run by the school management. Students who are eligible to apply for full-time programmes are candidate who passed jamb and have distinctive Olevel results. Lecture hours for full time programmes starts from 7am.

Regular/Morning programme is also the same as full-time programme, this programme was introduced sometimes around 2016, it was named morning programme because lecture starts in the morning and end before noon. In other words, FULL TIME AND MORNING is the same.
3. EVENING PROGRAMME

You don’t need to pass jamb to gain admission into evening programmes or should I say if you didn’t meet up with the general cut off mark, you may likely be considered for admission through evening programme. This programme was named Evening because lectures start in the afternoon or in the evening and not same as full-time regular programm.
