Fully Funded DAAD EPOS Scholarships 2026 at Freie Universität Berlin

The DAAD EPOS (Development-Related Postgraduate Courses) Scholarship is now accepting applications for the 2026/2027 academic year. This prestigious opportunity is available to professionals from developing countries who are eager to pursue postgraduate studies in Germany and apply their knowledge toward development efforts in their home countries.
In collaboration with Freie Universität Berlin and several top German institutions, the scholarship offers full financial support for eligible Master’s programs — and in some cases, PhD studies.
About the DAAD EPOS Scholarship Program
Administered by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the EPOS program supports the education of future leaders in fields connected to global development. The program emphasizes practical training, interdisciplinary study, and relevance to sustainable development goals (SDGs).
Applicants must be mid-level professionals with at least two years of relevant work experience and a commitment to using their education for positive change upon returning to their home countries.
Eligible Fields of Study
Scholarships are offered for various Master’s degree programs (mostly taught in English) at renowned institutions such as:
- Economics and Business: MIDE at HTW Berlin, Development Economics at the University of Göttingen
- Development Cooperation: Development Management at Ruhr University Bochum
- Engineering and Sciences: Hydro Science at TU Dresden, WASTE at the University of Stuttgart
- Urban and Regional Planning: Urban Management at TU Berlin
- Agriculture and Forestry: Agricultural Economics at the University of Hohenheim, Tropical Forestry
- Environmental Sciences: ISATEC in Bremen, Environmental Governance
- Health and Medicine: International Health at Charité Berlin, Global Urban Health at the University of Freiburg
- Law, Media, and Education: MIPLC in Munich, International Media Studies at DW Akademie
Scholarship Coverage
Selected candidates receive a fully funded package which includes:
- Full tuition waiver
- Monthly stipend: €992 for Master’s students, €1,300 for PhD candidates
- Comprehensive health, accident, and liability insurance
- Round-trip travel allowance to and from Germany
- Optional funding support for rent and family members (if applicable)
Who Can Apply?
To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must:
- Hold a minimum four-year Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Have at least two years of professional work experience
- Be able to demonstrate strong academic records (usually top 30% of their class)
- Show a clear motivation related to development and a plan to return and contribute to their home country
- Provide proof of English (or German) language proficiency, depending on the program
