FRSC Initiative Enlightens OGITECH Students on Road Safety and Substance Misuse Dangers

In an effort to raise awareness about road safety and the danger of substance abuse, the Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa played host to a crucial initiative organized by the Ogun State Road Safety Advisory Council (FRSC) on 22nd November, 2023. The event, held at Prince Dapo Abiodun Twin Lecture Theatre, aimed to enlighten tertiary educational institutions in Ogun State on the critical issues surrounding road safety and substance misuse.
The event commenced with an opening speech delivered by the institute’s Rector, Dr. Abiodun Babatunde Oluseye, who was ably represented by Mr. Ganiu Adegbite, the Director of Entrepreneurship. Mr. Ganiu urged students to embrace the initiative, highlighting its significance in steering them away from potential dangers associated with their daily activities.
Her Excellency, Engr. Noimot Salako Oyedele, Chairperson of the occasion, was represented by Mr. Ojugbele Daud. In her remarks, she extended appreciation to His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun Governor of Ogun State, for his administration’s commitment to sensitizing tertiary institutions in Ogun State. Her emphasis was on the eradication of illegal drugs and alcohol among youth, encouraging students to shun these substances.
The highlight of the event included presentations by notable speakers. ACN Famwang Dairu Garba from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) delivered an extensive lecture on the “Dangers of Illicit Drugs & Excessive Alcohol.” He underscored the severe health risks associated with drug abuse and excessive alcohol consumption, urging students to take proactive measures to safeguard their well-being.
