The Rector, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, Barr. Moses Umobong has advised outgoing Corps Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme who served in the institution to always be good ambassadors upon completion of their National assignment.

He gave the advice on Monday during the sendforth ceremony organized for the outgoing Corp Members at the institution Conference room. The Rector represented by the Deputy Registrar/Secretary to Council, Mr. Ini Ebong expressed his excitement for the dedication and commitment exhibited by the Corp. members during their one year period of the mandatory service to their fatherland. He urged them not to be dismayed by the nation’s present economic challenges but strive to make a difference any place they find themselves.

Also speaking, the Deputy Registrar, Academic Affairs, Mr. Emmanuel Ekpo advised the Youth Corp members who just completed their service in the Polytechnic to be focused and allow God direct their step as they go into the society. He Blessed them and wished them well in their future endeavours.

In a small exhortation, the Deputy Registrar, Students’ Affairs/ Students Affairs Officer (SAO), Pastor Ibanga Nathaniel encouraged them to be diligent in whatever they do. He stated that the world does not condone mediocrity, urging them to be focused and hard working. Pastor Nathaniel told them to look around their environment and provide solutions to them, that way they would have created jobs for themselves and the society at large.

Responding on behalf of the Corps members, the outgoing Head of Corps members, Corp. Iheme Uche said he was thankful to God Almighty and the the Federal Government for establishing the NYSC scheme and the management of the institution for what he described as a big opportunity given to them.

Prayers were offered for the Corp. Members while presentation of “Thank You” souvenirs formed highlight of the event.
