ASUP STRIKE UPDATE 2022

The Academic staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), has not announced a Nationwide strike as being spread in some speculated areas.
The National executive council (NEC) of the Union only directed its members to suspend work at Idah Poly, Ede Poly, Adopoly and Ilaro poly so as to pressure their demands from the polytechnic governing council which include the compulsory PhD and 20 years working experience as requirements for the position of Rector.
This strike action is an internal strike and not a nationwide strike. The affected institution are majorly FPA, FPE, FPI-IDAH and FPI- ILARO
As at the time of publishing this report, Federal polytechnic Ede ASUP chapter has directed their members to suspend work till further notice pending when the governing council will make adjustments on the mandatory requirements.
POLYTV reliably gathered that Federal polytechnic Idah management has resolved the mandatory requirements issue with ASUP however we are unable to reach their PRO to confirm this development.
Federal polytechnic Ilaro and Federal Idah chapter of ASUP are yet to issue statements as regard to the issue.

Nigerian students are to note that the NEC decision only affects these four polytechnics and it is an internal strike and not a nationwide strike.
