FG Begins Registration for Youth Empowerment Programme Targeting 20 Million Nigerians

The Federal Government has announced that Batch B registration for the Youth Economic Intervention and De-Radicalisation Programme (YEIDEP) will commence on March 9, 2026. The initiative aims to empower up to 20 million Nigerian youths through entrepreneurship support, start-up capital, and skills development.

According to the Coordinator-General of YEIDEP, Kennedy Iyere, eligible participants between the ages of 18 and 50 will be required to register physically at designated partner banks, marking a shift from the fully online registration used in Batch A. The bank account is a mandatory requirement for participation and potential disbursement of benefits.

Iyere emphasized that the registration process is free of charge and warned applicants against paying intermediaries or attempting multiple registrations, noting that offenders would be automatically disqualified.

Participants from Batch A who already have confirmed YEIDEP bank accounts are not eligible to register for Batch B, while those who did not complete Batch A successfully are encouraged to apply.

The programme is designed to address youth unemployment, poverty, and social unrest by promoting self-employment, entrepreneurship, and economic inclusion. It also aims to reduce the risks of youth radicalization, restiveness, and other socio-economic challenges facing young Nigerians.

The list of authorized banks for the registration includes: Fidelity Bank, Keystone Bank, Alpha Morgan Bank, Wema Bank, Union Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank, Zenith Bank, Access Bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA), Ecobank, and Lotus Bank.

YEIDEP represents a significant government effort to create mass employment, boost youth economic participation, and foster sustainable development across Nigeria’s youth population. Applicants are advised to verify their eligibility and follow official guidance to ensure successful registration.
