Applications are now open for the DAAD Master’s in International and Development Economics (MIDE) Scholarships 2025/2026, offering qualified students the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies in Germany. This fully funded program takes place at HTW Berlin – University of Applied Sciences, one of Germany’s leading institutions in applied economics and social sciences.

The MIDE program spans 18 months and is designed to equip participants with the academic foundation and practical skills needed for professional roles in development cooperation, international institutions, government ministries, and NGOs.

Program Overview

The Master’s in International and Development Economics (MIDE) is a specialized graduate program taught in English. It prepares students to tackle the complex economic challenges faced by developing and transitional economies. The curriculum emphasizes practical application, policy relevance, and interdisciplinary learning.

Who Can Apply?

To be eligible for the program and scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold a first university degree (equivalent to 180 ECTS credits).
  • Have completed at least 15 ECTS credits in Economics or, for candidates outside the ECTS system, at least three economics-related courses.
  • Provide proof of English language proficiency, unless the previous degree was taught entirely in English.

How to Apply

Step 1: Check Eligibility

Review the academic and language requirements carefully to ensure you qualify.

Step 2: Prepare the Required Documents

Gather all application documents, including:

  • Motivation Letter (maximum two pages, signed and dated)
  • Academic transcripts and degree certificates
  • Grading scale explanation (often found in transcripts or Diploma Supplement; otherwise, obtain from your university)
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) in Europass format, signed and dated
  • Copy of your passport
  • Proof of English proficiency (IELTS, TOEFL, etc., unless waived)

Note: If your documents are not in English or German, official translations must be provided.

Step 3: Submit the Application Online

Applications must be submitted via the HTW Berlin portal. The form will be available from July to September 2025.

 Important: Applications do not go through Uni-Assist. Submit directly through HTW Berlin’s website.
