Akwa Ibom Expands ₦20,000 NYSC Monthly Allowance to Indigenes Nationwide

The Akwa Ibom State Government has announced that the recently approved ₦20,000 monthly allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving within the state will now be extended to all indigenes serving across Nigeria.
This decision was made public following the State Executive Council meeting held in Uyo, presided over by Governor Umo Eno.
According to the statement released after the meeting, the extended allowance is intended to help ease living expenses for young graduates during their national service year and to promote their general well-being. The grant will take effect from August 1, 2025, and is subject to periodic review in line with changing economic conditions.
Aniekan Umanah, the Commissioner for Information, confirmed that the State Executive Council has also set up a committee to engage with the management of strategic state investments, including Rafia City Hotels (Four Points by Sheraton). The committee has been tasked with developing a sustainable management plan for the Ibom Hotels and Apartments brand and establishing a functional board to oversee its operations nationwide. The committee is expected to submit its report within 30 days.
Governor Eno, who initially approved the increase for corps members serving within Akwa Ibom last week, stated that the move was designed to complement the Federal Government’s ₦77,000 monthly allowance for corps members.
“Each year, Akwa Ibom welcomes over 10,000 corps members. It is our responsibility to support and motivate them as they contribute to the state’s growth,” Governor Eno said.
Indigenous corps members are encouraged to follow official channels for further information on how to access the extended allowance.
