Advantages and Disadvantages of Moving to Another city to Study
There are many benefits and advantages of schooling in a city far away from home. Below are The advantages of schooling in another city.
1. CIVILIZATION.
Moving to another city to study will expose you to be more civilized as traveling is part of education. You get to know more places aside from your own city, town or state. I could remember vividly when I gained admission to Federal polytechnic IDAH in 2014 I had to travel down from the south to north. I must confess I really enjoyed the journey and I was happy to know more places. It was a good experience so it is good to go to school in another city from your home. It opens your eyes to civilization and you know civilization is part of Education.
2. CULTURE AND TRADITION TOLERANCE.
When you move to another city to study, You get to know more about other people’s traditions and culture and this will boost your relationship with people from the region which might be of mutual benefit to you in future.
During my first year on campus, the school environment seems to be strange to me but as soon as I mingle with the people there In Fact I love their culture and tradition even though there are some of their cultures that I dislike yet l I was able to tolerate that. Also You meet other students from different state and region and also get familiarize with their Languages. For instance, if you are from AUCHI and schooling in Kano poly, you get be more familiarized with Hausa language, religion and their way of life over there.
3. FREEDOM.
Moving to another city or state to study is like freedom from your parents/Guardians as you can do whatever you like and live your life to the fullest due to the distance as nobody will be able to monitor your life in school. Your parents wouldn’t be able to check on you from time to time. Your freedom is guaranteed.

4. FREEDOM OF ASSOCIATION.
Apart from the fact that you gain freedom from your parents, you also have liberty to join different associations in the city where you moved in to study. You can choose to participate in any association and clubs of your choice which can also be an added advantage to your academics. An Association or club of your choice where you meet other students from your state/region and build friendship with them.
5. LOVE AND RELATIONSHIP.
Moving to another city to study helps to build love among students as most students meet their life partners on campus and luckily few do get married after school. Moreso, moving into another city to study contributed to building love between the hosting community and the student which can strengthen the country’s unity.

DISADVANTAGES OF MOVING IN TO ANOTHER STATE TO STUDY
1. High standard of living:
The standard of living in another city far from your hometown is usually high compared to schooling in your city.
The Transportation from your home to the city where you are schooling might consume huge amount of money and You may not be able to take enough foodstuff and other learning materials along with you from home due to charges from transport workers and also, you may not get enough financial support from your family and friends when you moved to another city to study.

2. EMERGENCY BREAK.
You won’t be able to go home Anytime the school management announces an emergency break due to the distance from the school where you are studying to your hometown and you may end up being stranded in school. Right now some students have not been able to travel home since the ASUU strike commenced because of the distance and this might be a disadvantage of moving to another city to study.

In conclusion, Moving to another city to study is good and the best because of the benefits attached to it. You get to be more civilized, and also you would learn about other people’s culture and traditions which might be of great impact to your academics.
