Add value to your host communities, NYSC DG urges corps members

The National Youth Service Corps has called on all the corps members across the country to always add value to their host communities through impactful community development projects.
The NYSC Director-General, Yushau Ahmed, stated this in Bauchi, on Tuesday, during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch ‘C’ stream I orientation exercise at the state’s permanent orientation camp, Wailo in Ganjuwa local government area.
The DG who was represented by the Bauchi State Coordinator of NYSC, Rifkatu Yakubu, also urged all the corps members to do their best in obeying the rules governing their host communities and learn to appreciate their customs and culture.
He commended the patriotism, loyalty, patience, perseverance, understanding, and good conduct of the corps members during the three-week orientation course.
Ahmed stated, “By your show of maturity, discipline and tolerance, I am convinced that our three-week stay on camp has not been in vain and that you will impact maximally on your host communities during the service year.
“As you embark on the second phase of the service year, I enjoin you to continue to be obedient, loyal, and diligent. Endeavour to settle down quickly when you get to your places of primary assignment and adapt to the ways of life there.
“The people of Bauchi state, as you have been told many times, are hospitable. The glaring proof, as you can see, is the buses sent by local councils to convey you to your places of primary assignment.
“I implore you to reciprocate this good gesture by contributing your best to the upliftment of your host communities and Bauchi State in general.”
The DG who appreciated the state government for providing a conducive atmosphere and security for both corps members and officials while on camp, also lauded the state Ministry of Youth and Sports Development for their support at all times.
Our correspondent gathered that out of the 1,600 corps members posted to the state, 1,100 completed the three-week orientation course.
