Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic (AAPOLY) Secures NBTE Accreditation to Run 15 New Courses

The sky took on the hue on view between 14th and 18th of November, 2022 when the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) officials visited Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, an Ogun State owned Polytechnic, Ijebu Igbo, Ogun State for Re- Accreditation of existing courses and Resource Inspection of new courses for School of  Management and Business Studies comprising of National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Banking and Finance, National Diploma in Marketing, National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication, National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in Business Administration.

Other courses presented for Re-Accreditation and Resource Inspection are National Diploma in Electrical Electronics; National Diploma in Computer Engineering for School of Engineering, National Diploma in Computer Science and Higher National Diploma in SLT Environmental Biology for School of Science.

Also, the newly proposed school, School of Environmental Technology comprising of National Diploma in Architecture, Building Technology, Estate Management, Quantity Surveying and Higher National Diploma in Urban and Regional Planning was presented for Resource Inspection.

The plenary session of the Accreditation Exercise has in attendance the officials of National Board for Technical Education, the representatives of the Governing Council, the Management and staff of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic. The representatives of the Governing Council present at the briefing are Chief Jude Ojuko and Honourable Musbau Obanla.

The exercise began with a briefing with presence of notable NBTE officials mostly from Southern Region. The NBTE officials present at the gathering include amongst others: Director Polytechnic Programmes Arc – Ngbede Ogoh, Deputy Director Management Social Studies Division- Muhammad Mustaph B, Deputy Director, Environmental Technology Division- Engr. Dr. E. I. E Onyeocha, Deputy Director, Applied Art and Communications Division- Mrs Ansa O. Ndem, Deputy Director, Engineering Technology Division- Mal. Yusuf S. Ringing, Deputy Director, Science and Technology Division represented by Mal. Basir Jamilu, Deputy Director, Programmes Support Division, Mal. Halilu Aminu, Director, South West Zone represented by Mr Gbenga Olusegun.Cross Section of NBTE Officials: Accreditation Exercise 2022.

The Management team of the institution include Acting Deputy Rector of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Dr. S.T Akindele, Acting Registrar, Mr S. O Idowu, Acting Polytechnic Librarian, Mrs K.O Ogunbote, Acting Bursar, Mr Ibikunle Idowu, Director of Schools, Head of Departments and other staff members of the polytechnic community.

The team leaders saddled with the inspection of each department under review and scrutiny were introduced. In retrospect, the Acting Deputy Rector, Dr. S. T Akindele humbly welcomed the NBTE officials to Ijebu Igbo and the polytechnic community wishing them a smooth inspection throughout the course of the exercise.

On the 15th of November, 2022, the team leaders spring into action and the noted grey areas for various departments under inspection were scrutinized.

Joy filled the air on the 17th of November at the exit meeting when each team leaders gave a warm verbal reports on the grey areas. Above all, the reports read indicated that the institution got prepared for the accreditation exercise. Thus, the institution received praise rather than blame. The team leaders duly identified the areas that needed attention whilst the management took note of the areas identified and promise to prepare ahead before the next accreditation exercise.

Fed by nutrients in the sea and powered by sun, the good news above all is that out of 20 courses presented for re-accreditation and resource inspection of new courses, the institution got approval of 15 courses and 70% mark from the National Board for Technical Education. This gladden the hearts of the Governing Council, Management and Staff of Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic, Ijebu Igbo. To the general public, new courses such as Higher National Diploma in Banking and Finance and Urban and Regional Planning and National Diploma in Marketing have been approved for 2022/2023 Admission Exercise.

The results of the institution’s proactiveness has fetched the institution more available courses than the previous years. The Director of Planning, National Board for Technical Education and the Chairperson of Governing Council, Alhaja Salmot Badru commended the efforts of the Acting Deputy Rector, Dr. S.T Akindele and management staff for their proactiveness.

To all admitted and prospective students, be rest assured that all courses offered in the institution is 100% activated and the certificates to be issued at the end of each programmes enrolled for will be authentic.
