Nigerian Library Association Pays Sympathy Visit to Kano Poly Over Library Fire Incident

The National Executive of the Nigerian Library Association (NLA) has paid a sympathy and solidarity visit to Kano State Polytechnic following the recent fire outbreak that affected the institution’s library.

The delegation, led by the NLA National President, Dr. Lawan Umar, included key officials such as the Kano State Chapter Chairman, Mal. Nazir Muhammad; Secretary, Dr. Nura Lawan; Assistant Secretary, Tijjani Bashir; Treasurer, Abdurrahman Magaji; and Public Relations Officer, Aliyu Ahmad Abdallah.

During the visit, the team met with the Registrar of the Polytechnic, Mukhtar Ibrahim Bello, who represented the Rector, Abubakar Umar Farouk. Also present were the Polytechnic Librarian, Gazzali Saleh Muhammad, and other senior staff members of the institution.

The NLA President, Dr. Lawan Umar, expressed sympathy over the incident and commended the Polytechnic for its quick response in putting interim measures in place to ensure continued access to learning resources for students and staff.

He further assured the institution of the Association’s support in the recovery process, including professional guidance and technical assistance aimed at restoring and strengthening library services.

In response, the Registrar, Mukhtar Ibrahim Bello, appreciated the visit and solidarity shown by the Association, describing it as timely and encouraging.

He reiterated the commitment of the institution’s management to restoring normal academic activities as quickly as possible, while ensuring that students continue to have access to essential academic resources.

According to him, the Polytechnic welcomes collaboration with relevant stakeholders in rebuilding a more resilient and improved library system that will better serve the academic community.

The visit ended with renewed commitments from both parties to strengthen cooperation in advancing library development and supporting quality education within the institution.
