Top 10 Loan Apps in Nigeria by User Ratings

Loan apps, also known as digital money lenders, have become an essential part of Nigeria’s financial ecosystem. Despite controversies surrounding their operations—particularly aggressive debt recovery tactics—these platforms continue to provide millions of Nigerians with quick access to funds when traditional banks fall short.

Regulators, especially the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), have made it clear that banning loan apps is not an option. Instead, the focus has been on monitoring and enforcing ethical practices under the Limited Interim Regulatory/Registration Framework and Guidelines for Digital Lending. The FCCPC, alongside the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), plays an active role in this oversight.

Currently, over 200 loan apps have been approved by the FCCPC. One of the best ways to gauge their reliability is through user ratings and reviews on the Google Play Store, where most Nigerians access these platforms.
