NECO Releases 2025 BECE Results, Announces Dates for Resit Exams

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the results of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), following the conclusion of the Award Committee meeting held at the Council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State.
In a statement issued by NECO’s Acting Director of Public Affairs, Azeez Sani, a total of 179,201 candidates registered for this year’s BECE, which covered 12 subjects. The examination took place from May 12 to May 23, 2025.
The Award Committee, chaired by Dr (Mrs) Folake David, Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, expressed satisfaction with the conduct and processes that led to the timely release of the results. The meeting also included members of NECO’s management team and principals from various secondary schools nationwide.
Dates Set for 2025 BECE Resit
Alongside the release of the results, NECO has confirmed the dates for the 2025 BECE resit, which will take place on July 23 and 24, 2025. The resit will cover Mathematics and English Studies, two compulsory subjects required for progression to senior secondary education.
Candidates who wish to participate are encouraged to prepare in line with the official guidelines, which NECO will release soon.
How to Check Results
NECO has advised all schools and candidates to check their results and access further details about the resit examination through the Council’s official website or other approved channels.
The Council reiterated its commitment to upholding transparency and credibility in all its examinations and result processing. The BECE remains an essential milestone for students moving from basic to senior secondary education in Nigeria.
