Who Is Eligible?
• Citizens and residents of developing or emerging countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, or Latin America
• Holders of a university degree with relevant professional experience
• Applicants seeking admission to a Master’s, PhD, or research stay (2–6 months) at a German university
• Candidates from Catholic or other Christian denominations; applicants of other faiths may be considered if recommended by Catholic partners and open to interreligious dialogue
• Demonstrated academic excellence and above‑average performance potential
• Commitment to returning to and serving one’s home region after completing studies
Required Documents
• Photocopy of passport
• University degree certificates and full academic transcripts
• Explanation of your university’s grading system (if not included in transcripts)
• Employment letters or work certificates verifying professional experience
• Two academic recommendation letters
• Church or Catholic‑partner recommendation verifying religious and social engagement
• Statement of purpose outlining academic goals and plans to contribute to your home country
• Detailed study or research proposal (for PhD applicants)
• Current CV (reverse chronological order, no unexplained gaps)
• Proof of German‑language proficiency (minimum B1; A2 acceptable for English‑taught programs)
• Proof of English proficiency (for programs taught in English)
• Medical certificate confirming fitness to study abroad
• Official proof of citizenship and residency in an eligible country
• Offer letter from a German university (if available)
