Tinubu’s Government Delivers Big for Students: Free CNG Buses, Education Loans Spark Cheers from Nigerian Polytechnics

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has officially lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for its bold interventions in the education sector, highlighting the distribution of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses and the launch of the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as transformational milestones for Nigerian students.

Speaking on behalf of millions of polytechnic students nationwide, NAPS President Comrade Oyewumi Festus Ayomide described the initiatives as “lifelines” that reflect a leadership that listens, cares, and takes action in the best interest of the youth.

“These interventions are not just programs—they give hope to the economically disadvantaged and ease daily struggles. The CNG buses are easing transport costs while supporting environmental goals, and the education loan fund is opening doors for many who thought higher education was beyond their reach,” Oyewumi stated.

The student body also acknowledged the support of Hon. Seyi Tinubu, describing him as a vital link between the youth and the government. “We see you as a bridge connecting the aspirations of young Nigerians to the heart of governance,” the statement read, urging him to continue his youth-focused engagement.

Special praise was reserved for Hon. Comrade Sunday Dayo Asefon, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Student Engagements. NAPS described Asefon as “a student general” whose passion and leadership played a key role in making these benefits a reality.

The association further recognized past and present leaders in the student movement, including Comrade Lucky Emonefe, Senator Akinteye Babatunde, Comrade Olushola Oladoja, and Senator Usman Adamu, for their unwavering efforts in advocating for student welfare.

Acknowledgments also went to Amb. Lukman Salahudeen and Hon. Muhammed Eneji for their roles in overseeing the safe distribution of the CNG buses, as well as grassroots mobilizers, media handlers, and student journalists for their behind-the-scenes contributions.

In closing, NAPS called for sustained collaboration between the government and student leadership, emphasizing the potential to reshape the future of Nigerian education through continued partnership and investment.
