SANWO-OLU APPOINTS DR. OLUREMI NURUDEEN OLALEYE AS THE 11TH RECTOR OF THE LAGOS STATE POLYTECHNIC
The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has appointed Dr. Oluremi Nurudeen Olaleye, a Chief Lecturer in Biological Science Department as the 11th Rector of the Lagos State Polytechnic effective Tuesday, 1st December, 2020. The appointment is a single tenure for a period of five (5) years.
Having performed excellently in the appointment interview conducted by the Governing Council of the Polytechnic, the Governor considered his appoint with a formal announcement on Monday, 23rd November, 2020 through a press statement signed by Omolase Yejide, Head of Public Affairs, Office of the Special Adviser on Education (OSAE) to the Governor.
Dr. Oluremi Nurudeen Olaleye joined the services of the Lagos State Polytechnic in the year 2000 as a Lecturer II and rose through the ranks to the position of a Chief Lecturer in the year 2017. Until his appointment as the Rector, he was the Head of Department Biological Science. He had previously served as the Head of Department, Food Technology and Science Laboratory Technology in the School of Pure and Applied Sciences.
He studied Microbiology at the University of Lagos, Akoka in the year 1994 where he bagged his first degree (BSc.) and also obtained his Masters’ Degree (MSc.) in the same field from the same Institution. He proceeded to Loughborough University, United Kingdom where he bagged his Doctoral Degree (Ph.D) in Public Health Microbiology specializing in Water Microbiology, Water Sanitation, Water Safety Policy, Biotechnology and Food and Industrial Microbiology.
Dr Olaleye was born on the 14th of February, 1971, he is married and blessed with children.
