No ID Card No Entry – POLY IBADAN MGT

The management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan has on Monday 11th April 2022 adopted stop-and-search at all the entrances of the institution and also mandated all students to get their Identity Cards as criteria for entering the school which so far has helped maintain a safe learning environment.
As the school environment tries to gain tranquillity, through the security measures put in place by the management; some students and ex-students have however been victims of circumstance. Some of the students have been denied entry into the school premises due to their inability to present their ID cards or any means of identification.
Most of the affected students have blamed their departmental Executives for their lack of ID cards while some of them claim to have forgotten them at home.

“I have paid my departmental due since January and I am yet to receive my ID card”, one of the students who claimed anonymity said.
The Dean of Students’ Affairs (DSA), Mr Makinde J. A who was seen at the institution’s main gate trying to maintain orderliness and peace between the affected students and the Amotekun Security operatives stressed that; in a bid to maintain an enabling environment in the institution, all students must get their ID cards before Monday 18th April 2022 as defaulters will no longer be condoned.
The Hall Warden of Orisun, Engr Alajede who was also seen together with DSA spoke angrily about students who bring school Fees receipts and ATM cards as means of identification; and concluded that students must also play an important role in achieving a long-lasting solution to the menace of insecurity in the school.

The DSA then mandated it for all departmental Executives to make sure that they process all Students’ ID cards as soon as possible to maintain orderliness at all entry points to the school.
